FALSE ANESTRUM - CAUSES

False anestrus

  • Anestrus due to pregnancy.
  • Anestrus due to persistent CL – Conditions associated with uterine pathology such as pyometra, mummified foetus, foetal maceration, other disease states, mucometra and hydrometra.

Note: Persistent CL does not occur in the presence of a normal nonpregnant uterus. Many veterinarians tend to call wrongly a cyclic CL as persistent CL.

  • Subestrus, weak or silent estrus and unobserved estrus.
  •  Rectal examination would reveal the condition.
