Detection of Fluorides

DETECTION OF FLUORIDES

Aim

  • To detect the presence of fluorides in the given sample 

Materials and Chemicals

  • Ferric chloride (2%) solution
  • Test tube 

Procedure

  • Take a small quantity (1-3 ml) of urine or stomach contents in a test tube.
  • Add ferric chloride solution (2%) in drops.

Inference

  • Appearance of white turbudity is indicative of fluoride in the sample.
