Pressure
Pressure affects marine animals in various ways. The deposition of calcium is difficult at heavy pressure. Carbon dioxide accumulates in high pressure and makes calcium carbonate more soluble. Animals that have a great vertical range in the sea are referred to as eurybathic. On the other hand, animals which are limited to a narrow range of depth are called stenobathic animals. The fish, Chimaera and the snail, Turris are stenobathic. |
