Introduction

By net method, only phytoplankton of 50 µm size can be collected. This method could preferably be used for qualitative phytoplankton collections although large quantities of water have to be subjected for filtration in thisr method. A rough quantification of phytoplankton population of any area is also possible by this method as stated elsewhere.Finer nylon nets made of  No. 25 and 30 (materials  with  pore size, 64 and 51 µm respectively) are ordinarily used for filtering of water samples and collection of phytoplankton.
