SDS-PAGE Separation of Proteins

SDS-PAGE Separation of Proteins

Electrophoresis is the most widely used method to separate and characterize proteins by applying electric current. It is rapid and relatively sensitive requiring only microgram quantities of proteins. The electrophoresis separation carried out in buffer gels relies on both the charge and size of the protein. Analysis and comparison of proteins in a large number of samples are easily made on polyacrylamide gels.
