Unit 10 - Manufacture of plastic packages
10.1.1.3.Injection Moulding
Injection moulding is widely used for making thick walled plastic containers such as plastic buckets, crates and bottles.
Most injection moulding machines how use extrusion process to prepare molten plastic resin for injection. Polymer granules are melted and forced into a (sometimes additional hydraulic pressure is used) premade mould. This is combined with a reciprocating movement so that while one shot of plastic is solidifying in the mould, next metered amount of polymer is being injected.
