Expected Learning OutcomeIt briefs about properties of regular and irregular shapes, area and volume. It highlights the methods used to calculate the area of regular and irregular shapes using trapezoidal and simpson’s formulae. It describes the calculation of area and volume of irregular shapes using above formulae as applied to boat. It gives an idea about displacement, displacement curve, light weight, and dead weight and also calculation of the above. It deals about stability of fishing vessel, conditions of equilibrium, stable, unstable and neutral condition of equibrium. It briefs about, centre of buoyancy, centre of gravity, longitudinal and vertical centre of buoyancy and centre of gravity. It also helps to understand factors which influences for boat resistance viz., frictional, eddy, wave making resistance.
