15.1.7.10. Preshipment treatment

In some cases, the use of pre-shipment treatments can reduce the risk of pathogen transfer. The surface disinfection of eggs using iodophores, for example, is one such treatment. However, treatment of external parasites and bacterial infections may only reduce infection levels, removing the clinical signs of disease but not eradicating the pathogen(s).
