5.1.7 Anaerobic bacteria

Only two species of anaerobic bacteria namely Clostridium botulinum and Eubacterium tarantellas, have been implicated as fish pathogens. Clostridium botulinum type E had been reported to cause botulism which is a chronic disease termed bankruptcy disease in farmed trout. Eubacterium tarantellus has been found to cause a neurological disease in striped mullet Mugil cephalus. The disease caused is called as eubacterial meningitis.
