1.1.2. Dynamics
1.1.2. Dynamics
Mechanics is a branch of physics and mathematics. It is the science of statics and dynamics of bodies. Dynamics is concerned with the geometrical aspects of motions of bodies without reference to what causes them (Kinematics) and also the effect of forces as they condition these motions (Kinetics). On the other hand, statics deals with bodies which are at rest and with forces in equilibrium. The concept of dynamics applies to any branch of science in which forces are considered. With an appropriate prefix, the term ‘dynamics’ is expressed as hydrodynamics, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, population dynamics, etc. indicating the particular branch of science to which its laws generally apply.
