Problem solving abilities

  1. Can mentally represent the action: Concrete operational children can mentally visualize the changes that occur in conservation tasks. Ex. They can understand the content of clay how it was transformed from a ball to snake.

  2. Focus on more than on one dimension. They have the ability to think about both length and height of the clay rather than focusing on one dimension.

  3. Recognise that appearance can be deceiving. They can recognise that what they can see sometimes may mislead. They can use logic to override misleading experiences.
