Traditionally masculinity has implied some specific characteristics aggressiveness, dominance, strength, daringness, courage, forcefulness, adventurousness, independence, confidence and lack of emotion. These concepts are changing especially among educated youth. Many adolescents no longer feel shy or threatened by attending to household chores, some are even learning to care for young children.

Traditionally females have been depicted as passive, dependent, quiet, meek, gentle, warm and affectionate, kind, sentimental, soft hearted and sensitive. Now in the present competitive world due to advanced technologies, opportunities and exposure many changes have come in the concept of sex roles. Women are equally on par with their counter parts in every field of work. Women are attending fulltime employment and utilizing the community services such as child care centers for their young children.
The concept of ideal female and female role is changing due to the shift in occupational roles and redefining of responsibilities in the family. Personality traits that are considered desirable are also changing. Being assistive has helped woman to stand up and fight for their own rights. The ideal woman today is physically strong and also intelligent, assistive, independent and self actualizing and at the same time she is still maintaining certain sensitive traits such as emotional warmth, sensitivity, kindness and affection.
