Arrangements for establishing needs

ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT OF ECCD PROGRAMMES
Lesson 08: Management of ECE programmes- Equipping the center

Arrangements for establishing needs

There are three major areas to equip in a child care center and a director must determine the types and amount of equipment needed for these areas. The three areas are children’s spaces both indoors and outdoors, the adult spaces that include offices, waiting rooms, conference rooms, lounge areas and the service areas. Equipment not only includes classroom material and furniture but also consumable supplies such as paints, paper towels, food and stationary. The equipment and supplies budget should provide for initial purchases as well as for long and short term replacement of both basic furnishings and consumable supplies.
