Lesson 22 : Vitamin E

Toxicity

  • Large doses of vitamin E may counter the action of vitamin K and decrease the production of vitamin K–dependent clotting factors, thus promoting serious hemorrhaging effects in humans.

  • Individuals with vitamin-K deficiency or who are on anticoagulant medications such as warfarin or aspirin are especially at risk from megadoses of vitamin E.
