Deficiency of iron

The normal haemoglobin levels commonly range between 13 – 15 g/100ml and the RBC count is 3 to 4.5 million per cu mm. In iron deficiency anaemia, the haemoglobin level ranges between 5 – 9 g/100ml. The clinical features are

  • General fatigue and lassitude
  • Breathlessness/Laboreol breathing
  • Giddiness
  • Pallor of the skin
  • Oedema
