Lesson 06 : Dyeing Methods

Introduction

Textiles may be dyed at any stage of their development from fibre to fabric or certain garments by the following methods.

1. Stock dyeing, at the fibre stage.
2. Top dyeing, in the combed wool sliver stage.
3. Yarn dyeing after the fibre has been spun in to yarn.
4. Piece dyeing, after the yarn has been constructed in to fabric.
5. Solution pigmenting or dope dyeing, before a man made fibre is extruded through the spinneret
6. Garment dyeing after certain kinds of apparels are knitted.
