Lesson 06: Chain Organizations

Definition

According to the Bureau of the Census, a chain organization is a group of centrally owned stores, each handling somewhat similar goods and merchandised and controlled from a central headquarters office. The difference between a chain organization and a department or specialty store organization with multiple branches is that the former is merchandised and controlled from a central office, while the latter is merchandised and controlled from a parent store.
