Grouping

It is the arrangement of rooms in the house in respect to their relative positions and activities towards each other.
The dining room close to the kitchen and living room near the verandah, the toilet near bed room and so on.

Staircase accessible to all rooms.
The passage area must be minimum, well ventilated and sufficiently lighted with natural light and artificial light.

W.C should be far away from kitchen and dining; service yards should be accessible to kitchen.
Grouping is based on convenience.

Shape of the building is determined by shape of the plot and it should take into consideration the built – up area of proposed building, future expansion.
