Lesson 9 : Wall Elements: Windows

Fixed windows & Picture windows

Fixed windows : These windows are pretty self explanatory; they’re designed to stay in place and never open. Windows are provided for the sole purpose of admitting light and/or providing vision in the room. The window consists of a window frame to which shutters are fixed. No rebates are provided to the frame. The shutters are fully glazed.

Picture windows: are often used to give a building’s inhabitants unobstructed views of the outside and allow in the maximum quota of light. They are often found in rooms that have poor access to light and in hallways. They do not open and therefore are often positioned where light is a problem but not ventilation.
