Guidelines for effective sterilization

SOME GUIDELINES TO BE FOLLOWED FOR EFFECTIVE STERILIZATION

• Small items may be wrapped, sterilized and stored in heat sealable paper / plastic peel pouches.
• Wrapping materials used for gas sterilization are heat sealable plaster peel pouches (or) tubing (or) muslin wrap.
• While using plasma sterilization, items should be wrapped in heat sealable pouches (or) polypropylene wraps.
• Complex instruments should be disassembled if possible.
• Power equipment should be lubricated before sterilization.
• The  sterilization indicator should be placed in the centre of each pack before wrapping.
