Diagnosis

DIAGNOSIS

  • Diagnosis is based on significant clinical signs and radiographic examination of the skull and pharynx. X-ray reveals a large air filled guttural pouch with or without fluid accumulation.
  • Needle aspiration of air from one guttural pouch nearly correct the problem if a unilateral tympany exists.
  • Dorsoventral radiograph views may also be helpful in detecting bilateral involvement.
