HISTORY AND HABITAT

  • Clostridum septicum is very closely related with Clostridum chauvoei, hence it is called as Clostridum chauvoei type A.
  • The bacillus was first described by Pasteur and Jourbert (1887) and named it as Vibrion septique .
  • Clostridum septicum causes
    • Malignant odema in Cattle, sheep and pigs
    • Braxy (Bradsot) in Sheep
    • Necrotic dermatitis in Chickens
  • It is found in soil and the intestine of animals.
