TREATMENT

  • Dilating the cervix by mechanical means using operators hand
  • Administration of oxytocin 30 to 40 IU mixed in 5% dextrose saline as slow intravenous drip
  • Administration of calcium borogluconate 250 to 300 ml intravenous may help to increase the uterine tone.
  • Gradual traction on the fetus along with massage of the cervix may help to relax the partialy dilated cervix
  • Warm saline douche - 5 liters of warm saline is prepared and infused into the uterus to promote uterine contraction aiding in cervical dilatation
  • Cervicotomy – Traction is applied to engage the fetus in the cervix and the cervix is incised laterally to widen the opening and the fetus is delivered.
  • Caesarean section may be resorted as a last option
