Soil and climate

Though curry leaf can be cultivated in a wide range of soil conditions, red sandy loam with good drainage is ideal for its normal and fleshy growth which results in a better leaf yield. To a certain extent, also it can tolerate drought. Heavy clay with poor drainage is not suitable for its cultivation. It can tolerate a maximum temperature ranging from 26° to 37°C. But when the temperature falls below 16°C, the vegetative buds become dormant arresting the new growth of the plant. However, this varies from variety to variety. It can be grown in places upto an elevation of 1500 m ms1.
