BASOPHIL OF DIFFERENT SPECIES

• Large cytoplasmic granules appear purple on staining with Romanowsky stains. It is rarely seen in peripheral blood.
  

	Long, folded ribbon-like nucleus
	It is packed with small, pale lavender, slightly oval granules. The nucleus in many appears to have vacuoles, which are actually granules lying on top of the chromatin.
	Small deep purple granules that obscure the nucleus in many cells
	Intensively stained small deep purple granules of variable size and shape
