Soil Requirement
Sorghum is raised predominantly in verticals and to lesser extent in alfisols. Soils having good water holding capacity, rich in humus are best suited. Black cotton soils are categorized as best soils for its cultivation. It does not thrive in sandy soils but does better on heavier soils. Crop is grown in pH range of 6.0-8.5. It tolerates considerable salinity and alkalinity.
