Introduction

Goiter has been a health concern ever since the beginning of human race. More important is that the iodine deficiency does not only result in goiter but a range of anomalies, still births, defect in neuropsychological development and mental retardation. Hence the concept of iodine deficiency disorders (IDD) was introduced in 1983 by Hetzel (lamberg, 1993).
