Dental problems

  • Tooth decay can be caused by caries. It can occur in children who are susceptible and whose integrity of tooth structure may be affected by nutritional deficiency.
  • Vitamin A is necessary for enamel.
  • Vitamin C is essential for dentine.
  • Calcium; phosphorus and vitamin D are needed for calcification.
  • Fermentable carbohydrate adheres to tooth surface. Major dietary factors influence tooth decay.
  • Sticky carbohydrates stay longer in mouth and has greater carcinogenic effect.
