Lesson 9 : Planning Creative Activities for Children

Organizational Variables

The creative mind interacts vigorously with supportive and stimulating factors in the organizational environment such as school environment for students.

  1. Management of School: Ogletree (1971) found that the private schools followed a less restrictive and intellectual approach in which art, motor-activity and active involvement take precedence over academic intellectual learning. The school pupils who get scope for participation in other activities obtained significantly higher verbal and figural scores on the creativity tests than school pupils belonged to restricted management.
  2. Organizational climate: The school climate is very important for the growth and development of the creative abilities in a child. The child spends a considerable portion of his most formative years in school environment and this leaves an everlasting impact on him. Hence the climate of the school is very important factor in promoting or hindering the creativity among students.
