Dimensions /Domains of Neonatal Assessment

The domain or dimension of neonatal assessment is infant behavior and behavior is the indication for the integrity of the central nervous system. The presence or absence of specific reflexes and reactions indicate the presence or absence of brain damage. Evaluation efforts are designed to test for continuity between performances at earlier and later dates. Contemporary approaches look at Infant’s behavior, Physical and social context, Transactions between infant and care giving context.

Dimensions of infant behavior include three aspects like

    1. Neurological integrity
    2. Behavioural organization
    3. Individual differences in temperament
