Objectives of ECE programme for socio-emotional development

A child comes to the ECE center at the age of 3 years. At that time he is generally:

• Egocentric i.e he can only see and feel things from his own view point.
• Is more used to individual/solitary or parallel play i.e. play by the side of another child or by himself.
• Is used to one-to-one attention/interaction with his mother/parent.
• Is not yet capable of pro-social behavior like cooperation, sharing, helping etc.
