- Ensure that every child gets your attention
- Call each child by his/her name. It gives the child a positive feeling of self-worth.
- Praise and encourage children without hesitation. Every child needs to experience success
- Try to highlight every child’s strengths
- Give verbal acceptance to each child’s feelings and encourage to express his feelings and emotions in a socially accepted manner.
- Provide opportunities for children to give vent to their emotions through creative drama, role play, music and movement and creative activities.
- Be consistent in your approval and disapproval of the child’s behavior.
- Treat all children alike. Do not have favourities.

- Compare children. Every child is primarily an individual and should be treated as such.
- Criticize or humiliate children. It creates a feeling of inferiority in them
- Hit or abuse children. They will only learn to imitate your behavior.
- Encourage differences in expected behaviours from boys and girls.
