Lesson 30 : Evaluation of child care services and programmes

Principle of Evaluation

Evaluation plans should be based on certain principles that reduce anxiety and increase cooperation among the individuals being evaluated. They include

  • The evaluation process is open.
  • Evaluation relates directly to program goals and objectives.
  • Each person being evaluated knows why, when, where, how and by whom the evaluation is to be done.
  • Evaluation is conducted on an individual basis.
  • The individual’s evaluation is a confidential matter and is accessible only to those who need to know such as employee’s supervisor or a child’s teacher.
  • Evaluation is built into the program so that it occurs on a regular basis.
