Post natal care

About six weeks after delivery the mother should be seen by the doctor who will examine her to ascertain that she has to returned to normal health. The mothers will be advised about diet, exercise etc., and also she will be advised to have spacing of future pregnancies.

Well baby clinics:
Mothers are encouraged to bring their children to the clinic once a month up to one year of age and once in three months until they 5 years. At the clinic child is weighed and health progress is noted and discussed with the mother. This helps the parents to maintain then child’s health and teach them good health habits. If there are any minor ailments, they are treated in the centre itself or they are referred to medical specialists. The centre may also provide facilities for immunization.

Home Visits:
Services given by Mid wife or dais employed in MCH centre. They need to

  • Understand the family background
  • Give health education tips
  • Take care of sick for avoiding contracts with infection diseases.
  • Refer the problems which she can manage, to the concerned persons such as the doctor, sanitary inspector, social worker, school teacher, gram sevika etc.
