Ground water pollution

Ground water is easy to deplete and pollute. Some causes are:

  1. Urban runoff of untreated or poorly treated waste water and garbage.
  2. Industrial waste storage located above or near aquifers.
  3. Agricultural practices such as the application of large amounts of fertilizers and pesticides etc. in the rural sector.
  4. Leaks from underground storage tanks containing gasoline and other hazardous substances.
  5. Leach ate from land fills
  6. poorly designed and inadequately maintained septic tanks
  7. Mining wastes.
