Introduction

Thermal pollution happens when water from rivers, lakes, ocean and streams experience a harmful increase in temperature. This temperature rise can have a negative impact, killing the native fish and plant life.

Definitions

  • The discharge of warm water into rivers is called thermal pollution. (OR)
  • Thermal pollution is the degradation of water quality by any process that changes the water temperature.
