Control measures

  1. Solid waste can be buried or dumped in the sea.
  2. Liquid waste can be discharged in three ways:
    1. Directly into the sea.
    2. Directly into rivers.
    3. As a trade waste of sewers.
  3. Disposal of gaseous wastes by:
    1. Filtration to remove particulate matter.
    2. Dispersal via chimney stack.
    3. Scrubbing or adsorption systems to reduce gaseous activity.
