Source reduction

An integrated waste management strategy includes three main components:

Source reduction: Source reduction is one of fundamental ways to reduce waste. This can be achieved

  1. Using less material when making a product,
  2. Reusing products on site,
  3. Designing products or packaging to reduce their quantity.

On an individual level, we can

  1. Reduce the use of unnecessary items while shopping,
  2. Buy items with minimal packaging,
  3. Avoid buying disposable items
  4. Avoid asking for plastic carry bags.
  5. Substitute the use of toxic substances with less toxic chemicals usage.
