Jacobean And Restoration

There are many characteristics of Jacobean and Restoration furniture. k

  1. This furniture was straight lined & heavily carved, but it became somewhat smaller in scale.
  2. Chairs and sofas became lighter in weight & began to have upholstered seats and backs nailed to the frame work.
  3. Wood paneling was widely used on walls & some wallpaper was introduced.
  4. Furniture becomes more refined and more comfortable.
  5. Spiral turning and Flemish curves became much more popular on legs, backs, arms and stretchers.
  6. There was greater use of marble and ivory, rare woods in inlay work, framed mirrors and crystal chandeliers were in trend.
