Louvers

Ventilating panels of wood, metal, or plastic can be especially effective as sunshades and for weather protection. Normally used over windows, they can take the place of glass completely in very temperate climates. If security is a concern, louvers are not an effective choice because the narrow slats are easy to remove from the exterior of the structure.
