Fabrics in Plain Weave

Fabrics of any weaves can generally range from sheer or light weight to very heavy also called bottom weight or suiting fabrics. A large group of fabrics used for apparel & household purposes are from this weave.

Sheer Fabrics:These are light in weight, transparent or semi transparent.

  • Organdy – sheer with acid finish (parchmentization).
  • Lawn – crisp printed fabric.
  • Georgette and Chiffon – from filament crepe yarns or highly twisted yarns.
  • Voile – sheer fabric with special high twist yarns
  • Cambric

    Medium weight fabrics:
    Calico, Ginghams, Chintz, Longcloth, Crepes etc.

    Suiting weight fabrics:
    Flannel, Canvas, Tweed.
