Working the effect on the paper

  • Firstly, the size of the repeat has to be determined. (Fig 1)
  • Below the repeat, the colored ends are to be indicated and similarly the colored picks are also indicated on the left side of the repeat. (Fig 2). This helps as a guide in filling colors.
  • The warp floats are indicated by the use of dots in the repeat. (Fig 3)
  • As per the color in the guide marked, fill in the color of warp. (Fig 4)
  • Fill the weft as per color in the guide. (Fig 5)
  • Repeat the procedure (4 & 5) for our more repeats. (Fig 6)


  1. SHOT: When warp is in one single color and weft is in another single color.

  2. STRIPE: When warp is in different colors and weft in one single color.

  3. CROSSOVER: When warp is in one color and weft in different colors.

  4. CHECK: Both warp and weft in different colors.
