Characteristics

  • They appear same on the face and back
  • The fabric has excellent widthwise elasticity particularly in the 2x2 rib structure.
  • They are twice as thick as single jersey
  • They do not curl at the edges, but run and unravel from the end knit last
  • They are costly due to greater amount of yarn required and the slower rate of production

Uses:

Due to their widthwise elasticity they are used in apparel where snugness of fit is essential, such as wristbands of sleeves and waistbands of garments. It is also widely used for underwear and socks for men and children.
