Production Authorization
Many apparel companies must commit to production before meaningful sales have been generated, someone must decide what and how much to manufacture. Merchandisers use past sales histories, current market research, advance sales advice, and sales forecasting models to make production authorization commitments. Unfortunately, there are no magic crystal ball forecasting models that can zero in on the exact styles by sizes and colors that will be sold in any given season.
