Graphics

Graphics is a digital representation of non-text information such as a drawing, chart, or photograph. It is also called a digital picture or image which has no movement or animation.

Images – Creation of multimedia images

  1. Images obviously play a very important role in multimedia products
    1. Images may be photograph-like bitmaps, vector-based drawings, or 3D renderings
    2. The type of still images created depends on the display resolution, and hardware and software capabilities.
  2. Access to the right tools and right hardware for image development is important!
    1. E.g., graphic designers like to have large, High-resolution monitors or multiple Monitors

Types of graphics
Bitmap graphics – represents the image as an array of dots, called pixels

    1. Bitmaps are also known as or raster-based graphics.
    2. Draw-type graphics or vector graphics – represent an image as a geometric shape.
