Differences between Pedagogy and Andragogy

Self concept- dependent

Independent

Need for others to see them as capable of self direction

Experience a remarkable increase in motivation to learn and a strong desire to continue learning process

Experience is considered as little worth and therefore the communication between teacher and learner is one way

Is experienced, two way communication

Teachers decide the content and assume the responsibility to decide how and when the learning should occur

Learners are grouped according to their interests and learning needs and decide the content to be learnt based on their perception
The facilitators act as the resource persons to help the learners form interest groups and diagnose their learning needs.

It is subject centered

Problem centered learning and learn by practicing
