Preparation of Standard oxidising and reducing solutions

  •    0.1 N Oxalic acid: Dissolve 0.630 g of oxalic acid in 100ml distilled water. This solution is fairly stable at room temperature.

    ·    0.1 N Potassium permanganate: Dissolve 0.320 g of KMNO4 in 100ml of distilled water.

    ·    Pipette out 10ml of the oxalic acid solution into a conical flask, add about an equal volume of dil. H2SO4 and heat to about 80◦C. Run in the permanganate solution till the last drop turns the liquid a faint pink colour.

    ·    Repeat three times. Calculate the strength of the solution using the formula V1N1=V2N2
