6.1.1 Sociology

Man is called as a “social animal” as he lives in groups. Sociology is the science of society. Auguste Comte (1789-1857), who is considered as the father of sociology, coined this term in 1837. “socio” in Latin means companions or society and “logos” in Greek means reasoning or science. The discipline of sociology originated in the US.
