Factors to be Considered for Good Public Speaking Skill

Reading : To acquire knowledge one has to read lot of books, and journals. Not only for information and also to acquire more words.

Thinking: As a speaker speaks simultaneously keeps 'on thinking. So, speaking and thinking are inter-connected.

Listening: When others are talking to us, we have to listen to them attentively in order to determine-how he is going to respond or find out how they are reacting to his words, so a third dimension is added to speaking and thinking.

Talking: The talking efforts are in five directions, viz. reading, thinking, listening, talking and practicing. These activities do not take place one after the other. They are closely related and are carried simultaneously.

Conviction: As a speaker, he will be required to deliver his ideas on a subject. He must have conviction in what he says. He must sincerely believe in his own words. If he is dishonest, how so ever strongly he might preach the advantages of honesty; no one is going to be convinced.

Confidence: As a human being we have a unlimited potential. He is an inexhaustive reservoir of energy and talent, but he does not know himself. He must realise himself, his potential and build up of self confidence. If he has confidence in himself, he can carry mammoth crowds with him. If he lacks confidence, he will simply make a fool of himself and he will become nervous when he goes to the stage.

Convincing: If any one is having conviction, courage and confidence then convincing others will relatively be easy.

Memory: Good memory is very much important for a public speaker. Human memory is just fantastic. A good memory is a great asset. Many times an experienced speaker stands up to speak and he will have a relaxed approach. He stands in an 'easy’ way and he deliver his speech flex speech. He has great trust in his inner potential, his past experiences, and his creative thoughts which come from his gray matter and help him to deliver his speech impressively. Many ideas, thoughts, examples through to his mind and contribute significantly to make his speech remarkable since of his good memory power.

Time Conscious: Time consciousness is an important one for effective public speaker. He should know how to cut short or prolong his speech depending upon the availability of time.

Cheerful : Having cheerful face is an essential quality for the successful speaker.
