Selection of Topic - Success of Public Speaking begins with the selection of the topic. Making an early selection should be a very big advantage. It will give you sufficient time for preparation. It will eliminate strain and tension and keep you relaxed.

Planning and Organising a talk - Organisation has something to do with the sequence of ideas, how is the talk to be started, put forward and concluded.

Methodology: The methodology of organisation of talk varies with the speaker, audience and subject. The same speech will have to be organised differently when delivered to two different groups e.g. college students and rural farmers.

Discarding: After collecting the fact, if suppose you are having hundred ideas, discard ninety of them. Develop additional ideas and thoughts to keep in reserve. It will give you great confidence.

Message: Whatever be the subject, you should be absolutely clean about one point; your talk must have a real message in it. A message from your heart, a message that reflects you, a message that is yours.

Express, Argue and Appeal: Write it and order the selected ideas. Buildup your speech around a central theme. Good talk can be organised in the following ways.

  1. Express your facts
  2. Argue for your facts and
  3. Appeal for the action at three stages as introduction, body and conclusion.

Inject Humour: Include in your speech a few stories and personal anecdotes that will help to make the speech more entertaining. Inject humour where you can, but only if really relevant and really funny.

Short Speech: Know the time allotted to you and prepare. Keep the speeches short. No speech will ever be criticized for being too short; the same can not be promised if it is too long! Before your speech used find out exactly how long you will be required to speak, and then make every effort to keep it with in the time frame.

Accuracy: Be accurate and authentic. If you are not sure about them, verify them from the reliable source.

Visuals: Prepare some suitable visuals related to your talk. The visuals enhance the value of your talk. It will make more informative, more lively, and more intimate. It will also give your relief during your talk.

Keycards: After organizing, go through the script for few times to remember the main points. Those who are not confident enough about their memory can prepare 'key cards'. For example if you are going to make a speech before a group of people about 'personality development' and you wish to cover ten good points in twenty minutes allotted to you..

Rehearsal: Rehearse or go over the talk to yourself. Try them out on your family. The more you practice the more confident you feel, the more confident you feel the more relaxed your eventual performance will be. It is only when you are complete command of yourself and your material that your speech will seen spontaneous. Appearing to speech effortlessly is hard work.

Voice: Voice should be sweet and entertaining to have good voice, and voice modulation tongue twister may be practiced

Speed: To correct the speed of speech delivery, time and, to check and change the pronunciation an audiotape recorder can be utilised so that you can make adjustments, if necessary.
